Ava Starr, known as Ghost in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a character grappling with a unique and painful condition. As a child, she was caught in the crossfire of an experiment involving quantum energy, leaving her with the ability to become intangible, but also causing her extreme physical pain and destabilizing her molecules.
Her first appearance was in the movie *Ant-Man and the Wasp* (2018). The organization S.H.I.E.L.D., then led by Hank Pym's former colleague, Bill Foster, attempted to help her control her powers. After S.H.I.E.L.D.'s collapse, she and Foster were left on their own, seeking ways to stabilize her condition. Her desperation and constant agony often lead her to dangerous actions. Ghost is recruited for the Thunderbolts* team in the MCU in the movie *Thunderbolts* (TBA), presumably with promises of a cure or better control over her abilities.
As Ghost, Ava possesses superhuman strength and speed in addition to her ability to phase through solid objects. This makes her a formidable opponent, though she is constantly struggling to maintain control and prevent her condition from worsening.
